“For our annual School of Medicine awards presentation, Mary went beyond merely rehashing resumes or CVs. She interviewed hospital CEOs, former students, family members and colleagues for their perspectives. The resulting presentations captured the honorees in a colorful and often touching way.”

I’ve been a professional writer and editor for more than 20 years, covering myriad subjects in various environments.

From a trade publication in New York City to the corporate communications department for the largest public utility in New England, to higher education in Arizona and Colorado, I've helped organizations present their best and brightest. I’ve been a writer, communication consultant, editor, copyeditor and employee communication specialist.

One colleague even called me a saint.

I understand corporate strategy and know how to write for diverse internal and external audiences—in other words, I can translate corpspeak. I can contribute articles or story ideas or coordinate entire publications. (I really like working with designers.)

A few personal factoids:

  • Born (of course) in The Hague, Netherlands.
  • Grew up in New Jersey (but I don’t pronounce it “Joisey;” no one does).
  • Earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Goucher College and a master’s degree in liberal studies from Wesleyan University (the one in Middletown, Connecticut).
  • Moved west, hardly ever looking back.
  • Love big dogs, watercolor and cooking—and, of course, telling your story.
